For the second straight year, the Fordham men's soccer team opened their season against the Boston University Terriers and again came out on the wrong end of the contest.  The Terriers' T.J. Butzke scored just over five minutes into overtime to give Boston University a 2-1 victory at Jack Coffey Field on Friday night.

After a scoreless first half, Fordham had a golden opportunity in the 73rd minute, as Jannik Loebe found himself all alone in front of the Terriers' goal after a quick flick from Andres Penfold, but he angled the shot just over the crossbar.

Less than a minute later, Fordham's Janos Loebe didn't miss, scoring his first collegiate goal in the 74th minute.  Gabe Stauber put a lead pass through to Loebe, who one-touched to the left around the goalkeeper and from a very sharp angle, scored just inside the right post.

The score remained that way until the 83rd minute, when Anthony Viteri was taken down by Stauber in the box on a scoring attempt.  Stauber was given a red card, while Felix De Bona scored on the penalty kick to knot the game at one.

Then in overtime, the Terriers netted the game-winner in the 95th minute.  Adam Sheikali hit a long cross to the far post, which De Bona back kicked to T.J. Butzke for the one-timer at the top of the six-yard box for the game-winner.

In goal, Boston University's Matt Gilbert made four saves, while Fordham's Rashid Nuhu had one.

The Fordham men's soccer team will next be in action on Friday, September 4th, when the Rams play at Loyola-Chicago, beginning at 8:00 PM ET.
