With the loss, Fordham falls to 21-28 on the season, 12-9 in the Atlantic 10, while VCU improved to 29-22 on the year, 11-10 in the league.

Fordham opened the scoring in the second, taking advantage of a VCU miscue.Â
Charles Galiano led off with a walk, bringing
Mark Donadio to the plate. Donadio hit a slow ground ball to second that the second baseman threw away, allowing Galiano to reach third. After a stolen base by Donadio,
Ryan McNally dunked a two-out double down the left field line to score both runners for a 2-0 lead.

VCU cut the lead in half in the fourth inning, as with runners at the corners and two outs, Logan Farrar scored on a wild pitch.

VCU then tied the game at two in the seventh, as they took advantage of an error. James Bunn was hit by a pitch to start the inning. On the sacrifice bunt by Walker Haymaker, Fordham reliever
Jimmy Murphy threw high of second base, allowing Bunn to reach third. Daane Berezo then plated Bunn with an RBI-fielder's choice.

In the ninth,
Joseph DeVito drew a two-out walk to give Fordham the tying run at first, but
Ryan McNally struck out looking to end the game.

Murphy (3-4) took the loss in relief, allowing one earned run on four hits in 1.2 innings of work. Starter
Ben Greenberg threw the first 5.2 innings, giving up one run on six hits.Â
Joseph Serrapica also pitched in the eighth inning, inducing an inning-ending double play.

At the plate, McNally was 2-for-4 with a double, 2 RBI, and two stolen bases to lead the offense.

The Fordham baseball team will next be in action on Thursday, May 14
th, when the Rams begin a three-game Atlantic 10 series at Dayton.
