Arlington, Va. – George Washington's Brandon Chapman was 3-for-5 with four RBI, while Jacob Williams threw eight-plus innings, as the Colonials topped the Fordham Rams, 11-5, in the first elimination game of the Atlantic 10 Championship, held at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park.

The loss eliminates the Rams, as they finish the season at 22-32.

George Washington drew first blood, scoring three times in the bottom of the first inning. The Colonials loaded the bases on two walks and an infield single and got a bases clearing double from Brandon Chapman for a 3-0 lead.

The Colonials tacked on another run in the second for a 4-0 lead, getting a sacrifice fly from Robbie Metz.

George Washington continued to add to its lead with a three-run third to make it, 7-0, highlighted by a two-run double by Kevin Mahala.

Fordham scored its first run of the game in the fourth, as after singles by
Mark Donadio and Joe DeVito,
Ryan McNally ripped a single to left, scoring Donadio from second.

The Colonials responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to open up a 10-1 advantage.

Fordham plated their second run in the fifth on a Donadio sacrifice fly, scoring Edmiston from third, after he led off the inning with a double to left.

After the Colonials added a run in the eighth, Fordham closed out the scoring in the ninth. With one out, pinch-hitter
Ryan Carroll hit a solo home run to right for his first career home run. The home run marked the third time that a Fordham senior has hit a home run in his final at bat, joining
Rob McCunney (2014) and Jordan Lert (2007). Later in the inning, Fordham loaded the bases with two outs and got a two-run single by
Joseph DeVito to finish the scoring.

George Washington starter Jacob Williams left the game with an injury in the ninth, but still improved to 4-3 on the season, tossing 8.1 innings, allowing three runs on 12 hits with four strikeouts.

Ben Greenberg (4-2) took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits in two-plus innings of work. At the plate, Mahoney and Edmiston were both 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Carroll, Donadio, and McNally each had a hit and an RBI.
