Delaware's Chad Martin did not allow an earned run over seven innings of work and struck out eight, as he led the Blue Hens to a 7-3 win over the Fordham Rams at Houlihan Park on Sunday.

With the loss, Fordham moves to 4-12 on the season, while Delaware improved to 6-4.

Delaware opened the scoring in the second inning, getting an RBI-single from Nick Liggett and a sacrifice fly by Ty Warrington.

Fordham answered with a three-run fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead. The Rams loaded the bases on a single by
Matthew Kozuch, a
Charles Galiano hit by pitch, and an error that allowed
Ryan Mahoney to reach base. Pinch-hitter
Tim O'Connor plated the first run a fielder's choice, which was quickly followed by a two-run triple by
Joseph DeVito, scoring Galiano and Mahoney.

The Blue Hens got the lead right back in the fifth, getting a pair of sacrifice flies by Norm Donkin and Tyler Powell to lead 4-3.

Delaware extended the lead to 7-3 in the sixth, which was more than enough for the pitching duo of Chad Martin and Ron Marinacchio. Martin allowed three unearned runs over seven innigns with eight strikeouts, while Marinacchio pitched two scoreless innings of relief.

Fordham starter
Kirk Haynes, Jr. fell to 1-2 on the season, as he gave up four runs on seven hits with two strikeouts.Â
Joseph Serrapica allowed two earned runs on four hits over his three innings of relief work, with
Alex Hladik pitching a scoreless ninth.

At the plate, Kozuch extended his career-long hitting streak to seven games, going 2-for-3 with a run scored, while DeVito was 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBI, giving him five RBI over the current homestand.

The Fordham baseball team continues its homestand on Tuesday, March 17
th, when the Rams host UMass-Lowell at Houlihan Park, beginning at 12:00 PM. The Fordham Hofstra game has also been moved from Wednesday, March 18th to Tuesday, March 17th at 3:30 PM, due to potential weather.
