Behind a 15-hit attack and six solid innings from starter
Brett Kennedy, the Fordham Rams opened the weekend with a 9-1 victory of the Sacred Heart Pioneers at Houlihan Park on Friday.

With the win, Fordham is now 4-10 on the season and won three of its last four.

The Rams opened the scoring in the second inning with a single run, as
Ryan Mahoney led off with a single and was sacrificed to second by
Ian Edmiston. After a passed ball, Mahoney scored on an RBI-fielder's choice by
Joseph DeVito.

The Pioneers knotted the game at one in the third inning, as Cody Doyle singled, moved to second on a wild pitch, and scored on an error.

Fordham regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI-single by
Matthew Kozuch, scoring
Jason Lundy, who had singled and reached second on a wild pitch.

The Rams added to their lead in the fourth, scoring twice to go up, 4-1. With one out, Edmiston doubled down the left field line and scored on a double by
Ryan McNally. One out later, Lundy plated McNally with an infield single.

The score remained at 4-1 until the seventh, when Fordham 's
Charles Galiano connected on a three-run home run to left, his second of the season, to increase the lead to 7-1.
Matthew Kozuch registered his third
three-hit game of the season on Friday.Â
Fordham wrapped up the scoring in the eighth inning with RBI-singles by Kozuch and
Tim O'Connor for the 9-1 final score.

The offensive support was more than enough for Fordham starter
Brett Kennedy, as he earned his first win of the season. Kennedy threw six innings, allowing one unearned run on six hits with seven strikeouts.Â
Greg Weissert (1 IP, 2 K),
Cody Johnson (1.1 IP, 3 K), and
David Wright (0.2 IP) rounded out the day for the Fordham pitching staff.

At the plate, Kozuch was 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Galiano was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Edmiston, Lundy, and McNally were all 2-for-3 with McNally having a pair of doubles and an RBI.

The same two teams will match-up on Saturday at Houlihan Park. The game time has been moved to a 2:00 PM start due to rain in the forecast in the morning.
