Men’s Basketball Takes on Boston College at Barclays Center on Tuesday

Rams looking for tenth straight win

Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham University Rams continue their 2015-2016 season, the 113th season of varsity basketball at Rose Hill, by traveling into Brooklyn to face the Boston College Eagles in the Barclays Center on Tuesday, December 22, at 3:30 p.m. as part of the A-10/ACC Challenge. Saint Joseph's will take on Virginia Tech in the first game at 1:00 p.m.
     
The game will be streamed live on ESPN3 with Doug Sherman (p-b-p) and Rob Kennedy (color) announcing and can also be heard live on WFUV (90.7 FM) and on www.wfuvsports.org with Drew Casey (p-b-p) and James Decker (color) announcing. Follow the links above.
 
Tuesday afternoon's contest will be the 29th meeting between Fordham and Boston College on the hardwood. The Eagles leads the all-time series, which started in 1920, 18-10.
 
Notes
• The Rams are off to a 9-1 start in 2015-2016, the best start for a Fordham team since 1970 when the Rams opened the season 12-0.
 
• The current nine-game Fordham winning streak is the longest since 1990-1991. The last nine-game winning streak for the Rams was in the 1990-1991 season (Fordham won 14 straight that year).
 
• Senior guard Mandell Thomas enters the game with 1,237 career points, 17th on the Fordham all-time scoring list. Thomas is one points behind Tony McIntosh (1981-1985) for 16th on the list.
 
• With his ten rebounds in the Maine game, forward Ryan Rhoomes brought his career total to 709, placing him in eleventh place on the Fordham career rebounding list. Rhoomes is 34 behind Bill Carlson (1949-1952) for tenth on the all-time list.
 
• The 2015-2016 Rams have scored 80 or more points in a game in six of the past eight games after surpassing the 80-point mark just twice all of last season. The last time Fordham scored 80 or more points in a game in six of eight games was at the beginning of the 1986-1987 season.
 
• After shooting .415 from the field last year (711-1713), the 2015-2016 Rams are off to a hot start, shooting .492 (290-590) from the field, best in the A-10. Ryan Rhoomes leads the NCAA in field goal percentage, hitting 71.1 percent of his shots (59-83).
 
• The Rams have also improved on their three-point shooting, hitting 40.8% of their long range shots (91-223), tops in the conference, compared to 30.5% (187-613) last year.
