Women's Basketball Turned Over by Temple, 57-44

BRONX, N.Y. -- The Fordham women's basketball team was defeated by Temple, 57-44, Saturday inside the Rose Hill Gym. With the loss, the Rams fall to 3-6 on the season, while the Owls improve to 5-4 overall.

Seventeen first-half turnovers doomed Fordham, who turned it over 11 times alone in the first quarter, which allowed Temple to lead 21-8 after 10 minutes of play. With the score tied at 6-6, the Owls used a 15-2 run to end the stanza. The visitors eventually increased their lead to 30-14 at the half.

The Rams trailed by 22 at one point in the early stages of the fourth quarter and cut the deficit to 11 three different times, but the early hole they dug themselves into did not allow them to get any closer.

Senior Samantha Clark collected her fourth double-double of the season, as she led all scorers with 17 points to go along with a game-high 11 rebounds. Clark also dished out a game-high four assists, recorded a career-best four steals and a game-high two blocks. Sophomore G'mrice Davis added 11 points and seven boards for Fordham.

The Rams shot only 35.4 percent (17-of-48), including only 2-of-12 from distance. Temple finished at 41.1 percent (23-of-56) from the field and just 4-of-16 from three-point range. Fordham eventually finished with 22 turnovers, and the Owls used a 26-11 advantage in points-off-turnovers. Both sides recorded 34 rebounds.

Donnaizha Fourtain paced Temple with 14 points and seven boards, while Alliya Butts and Feyonda Fitzgerald added 13 and 10 points, respectively.

The Rams have a quick turnaround when they travel to Princeton, N.J. this Monday, Dec. 14 to take on Princeton at 7 p.m.
