Jon SevereSunday afternoon's contest will be the 31
st meeting between Fordham and Dayton on the hardwood with the Flyers leading the all-time series, which started in 1952-53, 25-5. Dayton, riding a 16-game home winning streak, has won the past nine match-ups, including a 76-58 win back on January 10 in the Rose Hill Gym as five Flyers scored in doubles figures, led by Dyshawn Pierre with 16, while Fordham's
Eric Paschall led all scorers with 20 points.
Notes* Sunday's game at Dayton will mark the fourth time that the Rams have played on Super Bowl Sunday. Unfortunately, Fordham is 0-3 on the big day, losing to George Washington in 1999, Xavier in 2000 and La Salle in 2005, all on the road. Patriot fans take note: the last time Fordham played on Super Bowl Sunday the Patriots defeated Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX. Both teams have a Super Bowl connection as NFL Hall of Famer Vince Lombardi, namesake of the Lombardi Trophy, is a Fordham graduate (class of 1937) while his grandson, Joe Lombardi, current offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, once coached at Dayton.
* Fordham freshmen
Eric Paschall and
Chris Sengfelder are the only set of freshman teammates to be averaging more than 10.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg. The only other freshman combo that was averaging 10.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg were Purdue's Isaac Hass and Vince Edwards but Hayes is now averaging 9.2 ppg and 4.1 rpg while Edwards is averaging 9.7 ppg and 5.2 rpg.

Mandell Thomas leads the Rams with 40 steals, ranking second in the conference (2.2/game).
