Men's Soccer Back in Action at Columbia on Wednesday

Rams Look to Extend Unbeaten Streak to Five Games

After a week away from the pitch, the Fordham men's soccer squad is back on the field Wedensday night, as the Rams travel to Columbia for a 7:00 PM match against the Lions.

Fordham (3-2-1) in unbeaten in its last four contests, posting three wins and a tie.  The most recent win was a 1-0 overtime victory over Temple at Jack Coffey Field.  Andres Penfold scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season on a penalty kick for the game-winning goal.  He now has a team-high three game-winning goals this season, which ranks him among the national leaders.  Sean Brailey was excellent in goal against the Owls, making seven saves for his first shutout of the seaosn and the seventh of his career.

The Rams will go up against one of its longtime local rivals in the Columbia Lions (2-2-0), as the two teams meet for the 42nd time.  The series dates back to 1958 with Columbia holding a 25-10-6 record against the Rams.  Last season, the Rams and Lions met at Jack Coffey Field, with Columbia earning a 2-0 victory.

This season, the Lions have posted wins over Michigan and LIU-Brooklyn, while falling in overtime to Marist.  Most recently, the Lions dropped a 2-0 decision to Quinnipiac.
