Box Score Box Score In an extremely hard fought contest that seemed destined for a second overtime session, Boston University's Lucas McBride scored in the final second of the first overtime period to lift the Terriers past the Fordham Rams in the season opener for both schools at Nickerson Field.
The only marker of the contest began with Fordham goalkeeper
Sean Brailey blasting a goal kick to midfield with 15 seconds on the clock.
The Terriers took possession and quickly went on the attack. Dominique Badji slid a pass across the box to Richie Robinson with four seconds on the clock. Robinson quickly turned the ball to Lucas McBride on the left side. He then fired the ball into the bottom right corner of the net as time expired. The ball just got over the line before the clock hit 0:00, giving McBride his first goal of the season.
The goal negated a fantastic effort by the Fordham Rams, which kept Boston University off the scoresheet for all of regulation, despite a 20-6 shot total in favor of the Terriers.
In net, Brailey made five saves for Fordham, while BU's Nick Thomson had one save.
The Fordham men's soccer team will wrap up their opening weekend with a game against Boston College at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 31
st. That contest will be played at Harvard University.
