Men’s Basketball Faces Richmond on Saturday

Richmond, Va. (February 15, 2014) - The Fordham University men's basketball squad continues their 2014 Atlantic 10 season as they travel to Richmond to face the University of Richmond Spiders in the Robins Center on Saturday afternoon, February 15, 2014, at 6:00 p.m.

Fordham enters the game with a 9-14 overall record, 2-8 in the Atlantic 10, after a 76-65 conference loss to St. Bonaventure in the Rose Hill Gym on Wednesday. Richmond enters the game with a 16-8 overall record, 6-3 in the conference, after a 75-58 A-10 win over Duquesne in Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
 
The Rams will be led into the game by the top scoring backcourt in the Atlantic 10, senior guard Branden Frazier, a preseason Third Team All-Atlantic 10 pick, and freshman guard Jon Severe, a product of Christ the King High School. Severe, a four-time Atlantic 10 rookie of the week, is averaging an Atlantic 10-best 18.7 ppg while Frazier is right behind him, averaging 17.9 ppg, fourth in the conference, an 23.3 ppg over the past three.
 
Frazier has 1,489 career points, tenth on the Fordham all-time, and he has 463 career assists, second all-time at Fordham.
 
Saturday afternoon's contest will be the 20th meeting between Fordham and Richmond on the hardwood. The Spiders leads the all-time series, which started in the 1984-85 season, 12-7, and have won the last seven meetings, including a 77-74 overtime win in the Rose Hill Gym on January 11 as Cedrick Lindsay netted 19 points and Terry Allen added 18 for the Spiders while Branden Frazier led all scorers with 29 points.
