La Salle Game Notes
Fordham Women's Basketball will honor the careers of four of its veteran players on Saturday afternoon, hosting La Salle at 2 PM for Senior Day.
The game will also have a great effect on the Atlantic 10 standings, as Fordham enters the game at 8-4 in league play and La Salle comes to the Rose Hill Gym sporting a 7-5 mark.
SERIES HISTORY: Dating back to 1984 when the two schools were both members of the MAAC, the series history between the Rams and Explorers is long and one-sided. The Rams have won just nine times in 43 tries against La Salle, with win number nine coming last year in Philadelphia. La Salle won the first 14 games played between the two programs, as the Rams did not pick up their first victory until January of 1990.
SCOUTING LA SALLE: La Salle enters the Rose Hill Gym sporting the second best scoring defense in the A-10, allowing only 59.3 points per game. Fordham leads the league in that category, surrendering only 58.5 points per outing. One big difference between the two squads, however, is that the Rams rank first in the league in scoring margin while the Explorers rank ninth.
One area in particular where the Explorers excel is limiting their opponents' effectiveness from beyond the arc, ranking fourth in the nation with a three-point field goal percentage defense of 24.9 percent.
The Explorers feature only two scorers averaging in double figures, led by Alicia Cropper at 14 points per game. The Providence transfer also pulls down 5.3 boards per outing. Micahya Owens ranks second on the squad, pouring in 13.3 points per contest.
