Two games into the season, Fordham head coach Stephanie Gaitley was still looking for a complete game out of her Fordham Rams at both the offensive and defensive ends.  Tonight's game against Mount St. Mary's came closer, as Fordham reached the 60-point plateau for the first time this season, and held the Mountaineers to just 30.8% shooting in a 61-37 win at the Rose Hill Gym.

With the win, Fordham improved to 1-2 on the season, while the Mount fell to 0-2.

Fordham opened the contest up 10-2 behind six quick points from Emily Tapio and four from Tiffany Ruffin.  The Mount pulled within one at 12-11, but Fordham put the lock down on the Mountaineers, holding them without a point for a 10-minute stretch.  The Rams would take advantage, scoring 16 straight points to open up a 28-11 lead.

The Rams would hold a 33-17 edge at the break, outscoring the Mountaineers, 22-6 in the paint, as well as converting 15 turnovers into 17 points.

Emily Tapio tied her career-high with 19 points

Fordham continued to be the aggressor, scoring 12 of the first 14 points of the second half, extending the lead to 45-19, which was capped by a Ruffin three-pointer.  The Rams led by as many as 34 points in the game after two free throw makes by Aaliyah Jones, as the Rams cruised to the 61-37 win.

Overall, Fordham held the Mount to just 12-of-39 from the field, shooting 30.8% for the game.  In addition, Mount St. Mary's only went 2-for-12 from three point range, which was a key part of their offense heading into tonight's match-up.

The Rams outscored the Mount, 34-16, in the paint, while having a 23-5 edge in points off turnovers.  Individually, Tapio tied her career-high with 19 points on 9-of-15 shooting to go with nine boards, three steals, and a couple of blocks, while Ruffin had 13 points on 5-of-8 from the field with four rebounds.  G'mrice Davis chipped in nine points with Samantha Clark having seven points, eight rebounds, and three assists.

The Fordham Rams are back in action on Friday, November 21st, as the team takes on Hofstra at 7:00 PM in the Rose Hill Gym.  The game will be nationally televised on SportsNet NY (SNY).
