Photo GalleryBehind 18 kills and six blocks by Arielle Love, the Duquesne Dukes swept a three-set match from the Fordham on Friday afternoon in the Rose Hill Gym. Final set scores were 25-17, 25-13, and 25-16.
Duquesne (7-8, 1-2 A10) came out firing on all cylinders, as the Dukes hit over .400 in all three sets, led by Arielle Love. Love finished with 18 kills and a .739 hitting percentage as well as six blocks defensively.
In set one, the score was tied at seven following a service ace by Fordham's
Gabriela Cinkova. From there, Duquesne went on a 12-4 run and never looked back in a 25-17 set win.
Set two saw the Dukes jet out to an 11-1 lead en route to a 12-point set win, as Fordham posted seven hitting errors, two of which were Duquesne blocks.
The third set was again all Duquesne early, as the Dukes scored the first eight points and finished off the match sweep.
For Fordham (0-16, 0-3 A10),
Lisa Hipp notched a team-high 13 kills, as she moved past Tasha Johnston for seventh place on the Rams' all-time kills list with 1,163.
Brianna O'Neil had five kills and five digs with
Brennan Delsing adding five kills.
The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Saturday, October 4
th, when the Rams host La Salle for a 7:00 PM match in the Rose Hill Gym.
