The Fordham water polo squad began its annual west coast swing on Thursday, posting a split of two matches.

In their first match, the Rams fell to Cal Baptist by a score of 10-8.

Cal Captist, who is receiving votes in the national top 20 poll, opened with a 4-3 lead after the first quarter, and extended it to a 6-3 advantage by halftime.

Fordham pulled back within two, 7-5 by the end of the third quarter, but couldn't get any closer as Cal Baptist goalkeeper Joseph Moorman made 16 saves in the match to keep the Rams at bay.

For Fordham, R. J. Simmons scored twice to lead the attack, while
Bobby Wurtz,
Andrew Gonzalez,
Davis DeFontes,
Ethan Vandeventer,
Ori Raz, and
Matthew Farrell rounded out the scoring.Â
Noah LeBeau had seven saves in goal.

In match #2, Fordham defeated Mt. San Antonio by a score of 10-7.

The Rams never trailed in the match, leading 3-1 after the first quarter, 6-3 at the half, and 9-4 following the third quarter.

Raz led the attack with a four-goal game, while DeFontes added a pair of markers. Simmons,
Patrick Reyes,
Cameron Shewchuck, and
Eric Minowitz each had one tally with Minowitz notching seven steals, which tied his career-high. In goal, LeBeau had eight saves over three quarters while
Patrick Harrigan and
Bryce Charles split the final quarter.

The Rams are back in action on Friday, October 3
rd, as they play Occidental (1:00 PM ET) and Fresno-Pacific (5:00 PM ET) as a part of the Gary Troyer Invitational.
