Carina Thompson added six and hit .375.
Â
Maria Rodenberg recorded ten digs on the night.
Â
Fordham looked strong to start the opening set, taking the first two points and pulling ahead 5-4 on a kill from Hipp. With the score 10-8 in favor of Rhode Island, Rhody uncorked 11-3 run midway through the set, taking a commanding advantage at 21-11. The Rams rallied to pull within eight at 23-15, but Rhode Island went on to take the set 25-15.
Â
Fordham led 9-5 early in the second set with the help of a pair of kills from
Brennan Delsing and consecutive aces from Rodenberg. Rhode Island, however, went off on another run, this time a 20-7 streak to win the stanza 25-16.
Â
Like the first two sets, set number three saw the Rams hang in early, but a 11-3 run from Rhody opened up an 19-9 lead that Fordham had trouble overcoming. Rhode Island went on to win the set 25-14.
