Northeastern's Matt Callahan scored the only goal of the game just 1:26 into the second half, as the Huskies defeated the Fordham Rams, 1-0, at Parsons Field in Brookline, Massachusetts.

With the loss, Fordham goes to 2-2-0 on the year, while Northeastern improved to 2-1-1.

Neither team registered much offense in the first half.  Fordham's first true opportunity came in the 34th minute, when Nathaniel Bekoe took a free kick from 30 yards out.  The ball was headed out toward Ollie Kelly outside of the box for a shot, but Kelly's attempt sailed high.

The Huskies almost put a tally in the final second of the first half, as Christian McKenna lobbed a shot toward the upper 90.  Fordham goalkeeper Alex Naples would punch it just over the crossbar out of harm's way to keep the game scoreless.

Northeastern though would get that first goal just 1:26 into the second half.  Following a corner kick, Donovan Fayd took a shot which was stopped, but Matt Callahan pounced on the rebound to score his first goal of the season.

The Rams were limited on the offense end to just five shots in the game with just one on net.  That shot came in the 86th minute, off the boot of Tommy Granot, but it was handled by Northeastern netminder Dylan Faber to clinch the win.

Naples finished the contest with six saves, while Faber had one.

The Fordham men's soccer team remains on the road for their next contest, a Saturday showdown at Army on September 14th, beginning at 7:30 PM.
