BRONX, N.Y. - Despite solid efforts at the plate from a pair of fourth year players on Senior Day, the Fordham Rams stranded nine runners on base, including three in scoring position, falling to Saint Joe's by a 3-2 margin at Bahoshy Field.

Jamie LaBovick and Chelsea Palumbo each went 2-4 at the dish in their final home game at Rose Hill. Palumbo also picked up an RBI with a single in the third. Jessica Crowley, the roster's only other senior, started in left field in the flex position.

Elise Fortier and Kayla Lombardo also picked up multiple hits on the afternoon.

LaBovick led off the bottom of the first in a big way, sending the first pitch she saw into the left-centerfield gap for a double. The Peoria, Ariz.,native advanced to third on a ground out, but two straight outs stranded her on third.

LaBovick also started the day in the circle for the Rams, keeping the Hawks off the board for the first two frames.

Saint Joe's finally broke through in the third, scoring runs on a double and a wild pitch to take a 2-0 advantage.

The Rams, however, responded right back. After Sammi Smith battled for a leadoff walk, LaBovick smacked a single on another first pitch and both runners advanced a base on a wild pitch.

With runners on second and third, Palumbo singled over the shortstop's head, driving in Smith and sending LaBovick to third. Next up was Fortier, who singled to right field and drove in LaBovick to tie the contest at two.

Still with runners on second and third and no out, the Hawks brought in Liz Mendez to pitch. Mendez retired the first three Rams she faced and the two teams were tied after three.

Neither team pushed a run across in the fourth and fifth frames, but Saint Joe's managed to get one home in the sixth. A single and stolen base from Melissa Ruf gave the Hawks a runner in scoring position with one out, and Ruf scored on an error two batters later.

The Rams threatened in the last two frames, putting a runner on with no outs in the sixth and one out in the seventh, but failed to tie the game.

After their split with the Hawks, the Rams have a crucial doubleheader tomorrow in Philadelphia, facing the Temple Owls at noon.
