BRONX, N.Y. - Fordham faced a tough day on Saturday at the ESPN Citrus Classic, falling 8-0 to Mississippi State and 13-0 to Pittsburgh.

Game One: Mississippi State

Fordham could not seem to get anything going against Mississippi State in its third game of the ESPN Citrus Classic, losing 8-0 to the Bulldogs in five innings.

Mississippi State started off the game hot, as Logan Foulks smacked a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning.

Briana Bell hit another two-run homer for the Bulldogs in the bottom of the second after the Rams went scoreless in the top of inning. Mississippi State pushed one more run across in the frame to take a 5-0 lead after two.

The Bulldogs drove in two more in the bottom of the third and a solo shot to start off the top of the fourth gave them their final run of the day.

Alison Owen no-hit the Rams over five innings of work.

Game Two: Pittsburgh

The Rams' second game on Saturday shared some unfortunate similarities with the first, as the Rams fell 13-0 to Pittsburgh in Orlando, Fla.

Pittsburgh led off the game with back-to-back home runs, as Tori Nirschl and Carissa Throckmorton hit consecutive long balls.

The Panthers pushed across four more runs in the top of the second, but Michele Daubman stepped in in the top of the third and retired Pitt in order.

Then, in the bottom half of the frame, two consecutive hits from Chelsea Palumbo and Daubman gave Fordham runners at second and third. Jamie LaBovick was up next and hit a chopper up the right side that was fielded cleanly and thrown home, catching Palumbo at the plate. After Sammi Smith walked to load the bases, another throw home caught Daubman and Fordham failed to get a run across.

Pittsburgh kept pouring it one from there and finished the bottom of the fifth with a 13-0 lead.

The Rams have one more contest this weekend down in Florida, taking on Texas at 9 AM Sunday morning.
