For the second straight day, the Rams registered a solid outing in the circle despite picking up the loss, as Fordham fell 2-0 to UC Davis on the final day of the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Fla.
Michelle Daubman blanked the Aggies over the first four frames before Jamie LaBovick came in to pitch in the fifth. LaBovick surrendered a run apiece in the fifth and the sixth.
Fordham could not seem to get the bats going in the fifth game of the weekend. The Rams' lone hit of the game came off the bat of Daubman when she singled to lead off the third inning.
Fordham had a runner in scoring position in the fifth after Brianna Ciuffi pinch ran for Gabby Luety following a walk and Chelsea Palumbo moved her over to second on a sac bunt, but the run didn't make it across.
The Rams will return home before heading back to the Sunshine State once again next weekend, taking part in the Citrus Classic at Disney Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla. They will play five games in three days, facing off against powerhouses Georgia Tech, Maryland, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh and Texas.
