The Fordham water polo team opened competition at the 2013 CWPA Championship on Friday in Providence, Rhode Island, against the host school, Brown. The Bears proved to be a tough host, as fifth-seeded Brown topped 12
th-seeded Fordham, 12-4.
Brown came out of the gates quickly with a 3-0 lead after the first quarter, and led 7-1 at the half. The Bears continued to press the offense with five second half goals to close out an eight-goal win. It was the fourth time this season that Brown has gotten the better of Fordham.
For the Rams,
Patrick Lenihan led the way with two goals, while
Nicholas Allen and
Mike Hay each scored once. In net,
Noah LeBeau had six stops.
The loss puts Fordham in the consolation bracket, where the Rams' next game will be on Saturday at 11:00 AM against Johns Hopkins.
