Saturday night marked the final home match for seven Fordham seniors, but unfortunately the Saint Louis Billikens spoiled the moment, downing the Rams in straight sets.

With the loss Fordham falls to 9-17, 2-8 in the Atlantic 10, while Saint Louis improves to 10-15 overall, 6-4 in the conference.

Brianna O'Neil led the Rams with ten kills on the night, and Lisa Hipp added nine.  Abigail Konovodoff led the squad with 27 assists, while she and Carina Thompson each recorded a pair of aces.  Emily Atwood, playing in her final match at the Rose Hill Gym, led the team with ten digs.

The Rams grabbed the first three points of the opening set and went on to take a 5-2 lead in the early going.  The Billikens evened the score at five and then outscored the Rams 8-2 over the next ten points to grab a 13-7 lead.  Saint Louis maintained a lead in that area for the remainder of the set, winning the opener 25-18.

Fordham came out on fire to begin the second set, moving ahead 7-3 before Saint Louis slowly worked its way back into the action, tying the score at 11.  The two squads traded points over the next several minutes before Saint Louis registered three in a row to grab a 23-20 advantage late in the set.  The Rams then rattled off three of their own to tie the score following a Konovodoff ace, forcing a Saint Louis stoppage.  The Billikens took the first two points out of the timeout, clinching the set and taking a 2-0 lead.

The Rams and Billikens traded points for a while to begin the third set, with an O'Neil kill tying the score at ten.  Trailing 12-11, Saint Louis strung together four straight to take a 15-12 lead and force a Fordham timeout.  The Rams responded with a run of their own, evening the count at 17 a few minutes later.  Saint Louis and Fordham played back and forth over the set's remaining points, but Saint Louis put together three in a row late to win the set 25-22.

The Rams have four matches remaining in the 2013 regular season, all of them on the road.  The first of these matches will be on Friday, November 8th, when the Rams travel to George Washington.
