Syracuse, N.Y, (November 12, 2013) - The Fordham University men's basketball squad continues its 2013-14 season with a trip to Syracuse, N.Y., on Tuesday night as the Rams face the Syracuse University Orange in the Carrier Dome at 7:30 PM.
The game will be broadcast live at
ESPN3 and will be broadcast live on WFUV (90.7 FM) and on the internet at
wfuv.org.
Fordham enters the game after opening the season with an 87-67 win over Saint Francis (Pa.) University in the Rose Hill Gym on Friday night. Syracuse, ranked ninth in the first AP poll and seventh in the USA Today Coaches poll, opened the year with an 82-60 victory over Cornell in the Carrier Dome on Friday night.
Fordham will be led into the game by freshman guard
Jon Severe, the Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week, who scored a game-high 28 points, shooting blistering 9-for-15 from the field, including an even better 7-for-10 from behind the arc in the Saint Francis win. He surpassed the former school record for points by a freshman in his collegiate debut of 24 set by Trey Blue in 2008.
Also scoring in double figures for the Rams in the opener where
Bryan Smith (18 points, 8 rebounds),
Mandell Thomas (15) and
Branden Frazier (10).
Tuesday night's contest will be the 44
th meeting between Fordham and Syracuse on the hardwood with the Orange lead the all-time series, which started in the 1927-28 season, 27-16. Syracuse has taken the past three meetings, including a 78-53 win on the Carrier Dome on November 12, 2011, in the last meeting between the two schools. The last Fordham win came on December 12, 1981 when the Rams squeaked out a 79-78 win in the Rose Hill Gym.
