A playoff berth was on the line at Jack Coffey Field on Sunday, while also being Senior Day for the Fordham men's soccer team. The Rams tried to send their seniors off with a win and a playoff berth, but Saint Joseph's Tim Lazorko scored in the 23
rd minute for the only marker of the contest in a 1-0 win.
With the loss, Fordham ends the season at 5-11-1 overall, 2-5-1 in the Atlantic 10, while Saint Joseph's improved to 5-8-5 on the year, 3-5-0 in the league. With other results on Sunday, the Hawks clinched a spot in the Atlantic 10 Championship.
The lone goal of the game came in the 23
rd minute for the Hawks. Goalkeeper Andrew D'Ottavi booted a long punt that bounced and was one-touched ahead by Alex Critzos. Tim Lazorko picked up the pass98 and quickly launched a shot into the upper right corner for his fourth goal of the season.
The Rams thought they had scored the equalizer late in the second half. With 7:30 left on the clock,

Michael Stalker running down the right sideline toward the corner. Stalker launched a cross toward the box, where D'Ottavi and Fordham's
Blake Bohlen both went up for the ball with D'Ottavi dropping the ball.
Taylor Gulbins quickly knocked the loose ball into the goal for the apparent tying goal. However, the referee waved off the goal, as he called a foul on Fordham for contact with the goalkeeper.
Fordham would get three of its 11 corner kicks after the disallowed goal, but could not find the equalizer, falling by the 1-0 count.
In net, D'Ottavi had four saves in the game and was credited with an assist, while Fordham's
Alex Naples had one save.
