The Fordham water polo team had their final two non-conference matches on Saturday, dropping a pair of contests in Princeton, New Jersey.Â

The Rams fell to 15
th-ranked Princeton by a final score of 11-6 to open the day.

Princeton jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first, and held a 6-3 edge at the half. The Rams closed to within two, 6-4, early in the third quarter on a goal by
Andrew Gonzalez. However, the Tigers would score five of the final seven goals to win the match, 11-6.

For Fordham, Gonzalez led the way with three goals, while
Davis DeFontes,
Nicholas Allen, and
Peter Bergum each had one marker. Bergum also added five ejections drawn. In net,
Noah LeBeau made six saves.

In game two of the day, Fordham was just edged out by George Washington, 11-10.

The Colonials jetted out to a 7-3 lead by halftime, before Fordham started a comeback in the third quarter. Trailing 9-3, Fordham finished with four straight goals by Gonzalez,
Patrick Lenihan, Allen, and R. J. Simmons to pull within two at 9-7.

The comeback continued in the fourth quarter, as Lenihan added his second goal of the game, followed by Gonzalez's second marker, tying the game at nine with 5:46 remaining. George Washington though got goals from Adam Nabel and Daniel Tyner to regain a two-goal lead with 2:41 left.Â

Allen pumped in another goal for Fordham, getting the Rams back within one with 40 seconds left, but the Rams would not find the equalizer before time expired.

For Fordham, Allen led the way with three goals, while Gonzalez, Simmons, and Lenihan each had two goals apiece.Â
Patrick Reyes rounded out the Rams' scoring with a single goal. In net, LeBeau made 10 stops.

The Fordham water polo team will next be in action Thursday, October 31
st, when the Rams travel to St. Francis (NY) for a 7:30 PM match. This is the make-up match from earlier this season.
