After dropping its first contest to Brown earlier in the year, the Fordham water polo team got a second chance against the Bears on Saturday afternoon in Providence, Rhode Island. The Rams fought hard but eventually succumb to Brown by a 14-13 final score.
With the loss, Fordham falls to 11-8 on the year, 3-3 in the CWPA's Northern Division.
Fordham opened with a strong first quarter, scoring first with a
Ben Clinkinbeard goal, while ending the period with a goal by
Nicholas Allen to lead, 2-1.
Brown bounced back with three goals in the second to lead by one, 4-3, at the half.
The Bears followed with a six-goal third period to just four by the Rams, extending their lead to 10-7.
Fordham tried to fight back in the final period, netting six goals, but could not get any closer than the final one-goal margin.
For Fordham,
Ori Raz led the way with six goals, three of which came on the man-advantage, while Allen had four markers.
Andrew Gonzalez, Clinkinbeard, and
Patrick Lenihan each scored once to finish the Rams' scoring. In net,
Noah LeBeau made 10 saves to go with two steals.
The Fordham water polo team will next be in action on Monday, October 21
st, when the Rams host St. Francis (NY) College at 7:30 PM.
