In the team's Atlantic 10 opener, the Fordham Rams had their work cut out for them, as the squad faced off against #22 Saint Louis at Hermann Stadium on Friday. The Billikens used two goals over a nine-minute span to post a 2-0 victory over Fordham.
With the loss, Fordham falls to 3-7-0 on the year, 0-1 in the Atlantic 10, while Saint Louis improved to 7-3-0 on the year, 1-0 in the league.
The game was scoreless through the first 30 minutes before Saint Louis struck for the opening goal of the contest. David Graydon was stopped by Fordham goalkeeper
Alex Naples, but the rebound was picked up by Francisco Vizcaino and knocked into the net for his first goal of the season.
Just a little over nine minutes later, Saint Louis made it 2-0 off a goal by Kingsley Bryce, his third of the season.
The Rams thought they had cut the lead in half in the second period but a foul was called against the Rams prior to the goal being scored. Fordham had just six shots in the contest with only one on net. That attempt came from
Jon Agostino in the third minute of the game.
In net, Naples made five saves for Fordham, while Nick Shackelford had one for Saint Louis.
The Fordham men's soccer team will next be in action on Sunday, October 13
th, when the Rams take on Dayton at Bajaun Field, starting at 1:00 PM.
