Philadelphia, Pa. -
A year ago, the Fordham Rams set a school record for blocking against the Temple Owls. One year later, a rather accurate hitting night and nine service aces led the Temple Owls to a three-set match sweep of the Fordham Rams at McGonigle Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Final set scores were 25-20, 25-12, and 25-17.
With the loss, Fordham falls to 9-11 overall, 1-1 in the Atlantic 10, while Temple improved to 12-4 on the year, 2-0 in the league.
The Rams could not find the same success offensively, as they did on Friday night against La Salle. The Temple defense was able to hold Fordham's leading hitter Lisa Hip to a -.062 hitting percentage and just five kills, while only one Fordham player, Brennan Delsing reached double figures in kills.
The service game also played a factor, as the Owls posted nine service aces to Fordham's one.
For Fordham, Delsing had a team-high 11 kills to go with eight digs, while Carina Thompson had nine kills and two blocks. Randi Ewing chipped in six kills and four blocks with Sara Konkel dishing out 28 assists, eight digs, and two blocks.
The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Tuesday, September 25th, as the Rams host St. Francis College at 7:00 PM in the Rose Hill Gym.
