Bronx, N.Y. - Offense has been at a premium for the Fordham women's soccer team over its first eight games. However on Friday the flood gates opened as the Rams scored four times over a 23-minute stretch to defeat the Fairfield Stags, 4-1, at Jack Coffey Field.

With the win, Fordham improves to 3-6-0 on the year, while Fairfield dropped to 3-3-2.

Fairfield was the aggressor in the early stages of the game, as the Stags had the first six shots of the game, capped by a shot from Nikki Stanton that glanced off the left post.

The Rams then got themselves going in the 36th minute, as Fordham was awarded a corner kick. Cara Rooney's corner was punched out, but settled by Kristina Maksuti, who passed it back to Maria Swift. Swift then blasted a low hard shot to the bottom right corner from 15 yards out for her first career goal.

Just four minutes later, Fordham struck again, as Kate McDonnell chipped a shot toward goal, which was saved off Fairfield goalkeeper Veronica Saez's fingertips. Fordham's Annie Worden then muscled off a defender to knock in the rebound for her first goal of the season.

The Rams kept the pressure on in the second half, extending the lead to 3-0 in the 57th minute with Worden doing the damage again. Kaitlyn Carballeira put a long ball forward toward Worden, who shot the ball toward the bottom of the crossbar, which then deflected in for her second goal of the game.

A little under two minutes later, the Rams made it a 4-0 off a Fairfield miscue. One of Fairfield's defender headed a ball down and back toward her own goal, with the goalkeeper out of the net. Maksuti would slide in with a quick touch into the net for her third goal of the season.

Fairfield would break up the shutout attempt for Fordham, as Jac Ley scored her first of the season off an assist from Elise Hemmer.

In net, Fordham's Ally White did not allow a goal over the first 66 minutes of the game, making two saves, while Rachel Suther made one save over the final 24 minutes.

The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Sunday, September 23rd, when the Rams host the Loyola Greyhounds at 1:00 PM on Jack Coffey Field.
