The Fordham volleyball team finished competition at the Boston College Invitational on Saturday, dropping a pair of matches to Boston College and Binghamton.
With the losses, Fordham went 0-4 in the tournament.
In the opening match of the day, Boston College's Courtney Castle posted a match-high 14 kills as the Eagles swept the Rams in three sets. Final set scores were 25-19, 25-15, and 25-20.
Boston College's attack was the difference maker in the match, as the Eagles hit .342, committing just 15 total errors. The Eagles also had the advantage on the defensive side, posting seven blocks to Fordham's five.
For Fordham, Lisa Hipp, Carina Thompson, and Randi Ewing each had eight kills in the match, while Abigail Konovodoff had 28 assists and five digs.
In match two, the Rams were unable to contain Binghamton's Iva Partaleva, who recorded a match-high 17 kills to lead the Bearcats to a sweep of the Rams. Final set scores were 25-21, 26-24, and 25-23.
The Rams were unable to maintain a consistent offensive attack, hitting no better than .103 in any of the three sets against the Bearcats' defense, which registered eight team blocks.
For Fordham, Hipp, who was named to the All-Tournament team, registered her first double-double of the season with 10 kills and 13 digs, while Brennan Delsing and Ewing each had six kills. Konovodoff finished with 26 assists, seven digs, and two kills with Maria Rodenberg adding 13 digs defensively.
The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Wednesday, August 29th, when the team opens its home schedule against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, beginning at 5:00 PM in the Rose Hill Gym.
