Dayton, Ohio - In the beginning of a critical Atlantic 10 series, the Dayton Flyers took advantage of three Fordham errors, and got eight innings out of starter Mike Hauschild, as the Flyers took a 4-3 decision from the Rams at Woerner Field in Dayton, Ohio.

With the loss, Fordham falls to 14-21 overall, 6-4 in the Atlantic 10, while Dayton improved to 16-19 on the year, 7-3 in the league.

Fordham grabbed the early advantage in the top of the second inning, as Mike Mauri led off with a single through the left side and moved to second on a single from Stephen McSherry. After a balk advanced the runners, Mauri scored on a Brian Kownacki ground out.

Dayton knotted the game at one in the bottom of the frame on an RBI-single by A.J. Ryan, scoring C.J. Gillman, who had singled and moved to third on a failed pickoff attempt.

Fordham regained the lead in the third, when Tim Swatek doubled to left center and scored on a RBI-single through the left side from Ryan Lee.

The Flyers again came back to tie the game at two in the fourth, as Gillman singled up the middle, moved to second on a walk to Ryan, and scored on Zach Stewart's RBI-single.

Dayton then grabbed a 4-2 lead with two in the fifth inning, taking advantage of two Fordham errors.

Fordham looked to tie the game in the seventh, when Mauri singled to lead off the frame and stole second. After a ground out advanced Mauri to third, Zach Small singled up the middle to score Mauri. Matthew DeSilva kept the rally alive with a single up the middle with Jack Buckley coming on to pinch run for Small. Swatek followed with a single to right, with Buckley trying to score, but he was thrown out at home by Gillman the rightfielder.

Fordham had another chance to tie the game in the eighth with two outs, as Ryan Maghini reached on an error, but he was picked off at first on an extremely close play to end the threat.

Dayton's Burny Mitchem then closed out the game with a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his third save of the season. Mike Hauschild earned the win, improving to 5-1, allowing three runs on ten hits with six strikeouts.
