St. Bonaventure, N.Y. - On April Fools' Day, Fordham starting pitcher Joseph Charest was the biggest prankster during the Rams' series finale at St. Bonaventure on Sunday. He fooled the Bonnies' line-up throughout the game, as he registered his second complete game of the season in a 6-3 win over the Bonnies.

With the win, Fordham improved to 11-17 on the season, 3-3 in the Atlantic 10, while the Bonnies fall to 10-11 on the year, 2-4 in the league.

Fordham grabbed the early lead in the first, taking advantage of a St. Bonaventure error. Tim Swatek reached base on that error and moved to second on an infield single by Matthew Cianci. After a fly ball advanced the runners, Swatek scored on a ground out by Ryan Maghini.

Fordham extended the lead to 3-0 in the fourth, when Maghini led off with a double and scored on Mauri's RBI-single. Mauri then stole second and scored on an RBI-single by Brian Kownacki.

Matthew Cianci tied a season-high with three hits on Sunday.

Fordham starter Joseph Charest began the game with five no-hit innings, allowing just two base runners, but only faced the minimum as one was caught stealing and the other was eliminated on a double play. The Bonnies would crack Charest in the sixth, knotting the game at three on RBI-singles by Nick Brennen, Billy Urban, and Austin Ingraham.

Fordham bounced right back with two runs in the seventh, as Joseph Calabrese opened with a single to left and stole second. Swatek then flew a ball to left, right at the foul line, which the left fielder dropped on the line, making it a fair ball. Calabrese scored on the play with Swatek reaching third. After a pair of outs, Maghini singled to left center to score Swatek for a 5-3 lead.

The Rams tacked on another run in the eighth for a 6-3 edge. With one out, Zach Small drew a walk and was pinch run for by Jack Buckley. Buckley was sacrificed to second and eventually scored on an RBI-single by Cianci.

Charest (2-5) and the Fordham defense did the rest, as they held St. Bonaventure to just one hit over the final three innings. Charest threw his second complete game of the season to earn his second win, allowing three runs on four just hits.

At the plate, Cianci tied a season-high with three hits to go with an RBI, while Maghini was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Mauri also registered a pair of hits with Swatek scoring two runs.

The Fordham baseball team will next be in action on Tuesday, April 3rd, when the Rams travel to Fairfield University for a 3:30 PM game.
