Bronx, N.Y. - Following a five-run fifth inning by Hofstra that tied the game, the Fordham Rams were not deterred in their game two match-up with the Pride at Houlihan Park. Fordham's Brendan Maghini came up with an RBI-single in the bottom of the frame, while Jeremy Adel got the final two Hofstra batters out with a runner in scoring position in the seventh, as the Rams closed a 6-5 win, after dropping the opener, 7-2.

With the split, Fordham and Hofstra are both 4-7 on the season.

In game one, Hofstra's Jared Hammer was 3-for-4 with four RBI, as the Pride topped the Rams, 7-2.

Hofstra got on the board in the first with two outs, as Matt Ford drew a walk, stole second, and scored on a single by Hammer. The Pride then made it 2-0 in the third, when Austin Nyman reached on an infield single, stole second, and scored on an infield single by Danny Poma.

The Rams knotted the game at two in the bottom of the fourth, as Ryan Maghini led off with a ground rule double to right field. He moved to third on a ground out and scored on Stephen McSherry's RBI-single to center. One out later, Brendan Maghini plated McSherry with a single through the left side, tying the game at two.

The Pride regained the lead in the sixth with a two-run double by Hammer with two outs, scoring both Poma and Ford. Hofstra extended the lead in the seventh with two more runs, and got its final tally in the eight.

Hofstra's starting pitcher John Tiedemann (1-1) recorded the victory, allowing two runs on four hits with six strikeouts.

For Fordham, Joseph Charest (0-3) took the loss, allowing six runs on eight hits with three strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work. At the plate, McSherry was 2-for-4 with an RBI, while B. Maghini was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

In game two, Fordham's Matthew Cianci's diving catch in the bottom of the seventh closed out a 6-5 victory for the Rams, splitting the doubleheader with Hofstra.

Fordham opened the scoring in the first, as Tim Swatek singled up the middle with one out and stole second. Swatek moved to third on Ryan Maghini's infield single, and then scored on Mike Mauri's RBI-single.

The Rams added to the lead in the fourth, scoring four times in the frame. Brian Kownacki began things with a single, and moved to second when Brendan Maghini was hit by a pitch. Kownacki and Maghini then pulled off a double steal with the throw going into center field, allowing Kownacki to score and Maghini to move to third.

After a strikeout, Cianci also struck out, but the ball went to the backstop, allowing him to reach base with Maghini scoring on the wild pitch. After an error gave Fordham another baserunner, Ryan Maghini ripped a two-run double to left, scoring both Rams for a 5-0 lead.

Jeremy Adel picked up his second save of the season in game two.

Hofstra came right back to score five times in the top of the fifth off Fordham starter John Porter and reliever Rich Anastasti to knot the game at five. With two runs in and the bases loaded with one out, Anastasi relieved Porter and struck out Ford for the second out. Hammer though continued his big day with a bases clearing double to tie the game.

Fordham responded immediately to the Hofstra surge, going back ahead, 6-5, in the bottom of the frame. McSherry opened with a single and was sacrificed to second by Kownacki. Brendan Maghini followed with an RBI-single to center, scoring McSherry from second.

The score remained in favor of the Rams, heading into the seventh, as Ford doubled with one out for Hofstra. Fordham reliever Jeremy Adel came in for Anastasi and got Hammer to ground out for the second out of the frame. Kenny Jackson then lifted a fly ball to center for Hofstra, but Cianci came up with a diving catch to end the game in favor of the Rams.

Anastasi (2-0) recorded the win, allowing four hits with four strikeouts in two innings of work, while Adel earned his second save of the season.
