Final Stats

Olean, N.Y. - After three losses and a tie over the past four games, the 2012 Fordham University men's soccer squad wanted to send its three senior out on a positive note in today's finale at St. Bonaventure University. And thanks to two juniors (Taylor Gulbins and Julian Nagel) and a sophomore (Sean Brailey) the Rams sent the seniors off winners, defeating the Bonnies, 2-0, on the Olean High School Field.

With the win, Fordham closes out the 2012 season with a 6-7-4 overall record, 2-4-3 in the Atlantic 10, while St. Bonaventure finishes the season with a 5-14 overall record, 3-6 in the conference.

Gulbins and Nagel provided the offense for Fordham, scoring his second and third goal of the season, respectively, while Brailey made three saves in net to record his sixth shutout of the season.

St. Bonaventure controlled play in the first half, outshooting Fordham 7-0 over the first 45 minutes, but Brailey kept the Bonnies off the scoreboard early in the game, preventing an Adam Scott header in the 12th minute from entering the net.

After a scoreless first half, the Fordham offense came alive in the second half as Mike McNamara put a header on net in the 51st minute that St. Bonaventure keeper Abel Bautista saved. But 12 minutes later, Nathaniel Bekoe fed a pass to Gulbins who beat Bautista to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.

The Rams kept the pressure on the Bonnies and it paid off in the 77th minute when Tommy Granot played a ball to Nagel who slipped it past Bautista to put Fordham up 2-0.

Brailey preserved the shutout with his third save of the game, rejecting a Garrett Pasono shot in the 87th minute to help Fordham record its seventh clean sheet of the season.
