Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham swimming & diving teams hosted the Boston University Terriers on Saturday at the Messmore Aquatic Center, hoping to continue their winning ways from a week ago. The Terriers had other ideas however, sweeping the Rams, 178-120 on the women's side and 194.5-102.5 in the men's competition.
Fordham (3-2 women, 2-3 men) won seven events in the women's competition and five on the men's side.
Brienne Ryan led the way for Fordham, winning two individual events, as well as being a part of two winning relays. Ryan was joined by Anna Marshall, Shannon Lulley, and Alana Biagioli to win the 200 medley relay in 1:46.68, while Kellie Lyver, Kelly Carroll, and Biagioli helped Ryan win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:32.90.
Individually, Ryan won the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events in season-best times of 55.04 seconds and 2:02.00, respectively.
Lulley, Marshall, and Lyver would all win individual events as well against the Terriers. Lulley won the 100-yard butterfly in a season-best time of 58.28 seconds, while Marshall took home the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:26.26. Lyver rounded out the women's winners, as she touched out BU's Courney Grace by .01 seconds to win the 50-yard freestyle in 25.01 seconds.
On the men's side, it was Shintaro Noguchi and Steve Sholdra capturing multiple wins for the men's teams. Noguchi won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:43.49, and later took home the 100-yard butterfly in 50.32 seconds. Sholdra would take home three event wins, as he captured the 1000-yard freestyle in 9:26.69, the 200-yard butterfly in a season-best time of 1:52.94, and the 500-yard freestyle in 4:38.91.
The Fordham swimming & diving teams will next be in action November 9-10, as the Rams compete in the Princeton Invitational in Princeton, N.J.
