Final Stats

Pittsburgh, Pa. - With a chance to help their chances at earning a berth in the upcoming Atlantic 10 championship on the line, the Fordham University men's soccer team needed a win at Duquesne University tonight. But the Rams allowed two first half goals and couldn't get their offense on track as Fordham fell to the Dukes, 3-0, on a rainy Rooney Field.

With the loss, the Rams fall to 5-7-4 overall, 1-4-3 in the Atlantic 10, while Duquesne improves to 7-10-1 overall, 4-3-1 in the A-10.

The Dukes got on the board early as Filip Velasevic played a ball to Simon Gomez who fed Carter Poe. Poe settled the pass and then beat Fordham keeper Ricky Berotti for his first goal of the season in the 12th minute to give Duquesne the early advantage.

Just over eight minutes later, Joshua Patterson connected with Karter Sell who found the back of the net to put the Dukes up, 2-0, just over 20 minutes into the game.

In the 32nd minute, the Rams threatened as Julian Nagel got off a shot that was saved by Duquesne keeper Sam Frymier. The rebound went to Ryan Walsh who one-timed a shot that Frymier was also able to keep out of the net.

Duquesne made it a 3-0 game with a tally in the 59th minute as Austin Lange picked up his first goal of the year with an assist from Patterson.

Berotti finished with three saves in the Fordham net while Frymier made two in recording his fourth shutout of the year for the Dukes, who outshot the Rams, 14-11.

Fordham will close out the 2012 season on Sunday as they travel to St. Bonaventure, N.Y., to face the St. Bonaventure University Bonnies at 1:00 p.m. Please note that due to unplayable field conditions at St. Bonaventure, the game will be played at the Olean High School field (401 Wayne Street, Olean, N.Y.).
