Richmond, Va. - The Fordham women's soccer team got introduced to one of the new additions to the Atlantic 10 Conference in the VCU Rams on Friday at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond. This first "Clash of the Rams" between Fordham and VCU though was all VCU, as they won the contest by a 6-0 score.

With the loss, Fordham goes to 6-7-0 on the season, 2-1 in the Atlantic 10, while VCU improved to 7-3-3 overall, 2-1 in the league.

The first half got out to a rough start for Fordham, as VCU registered the first nine shots of the game. Fordham goalkeeper Rachel Suther was able to hold off VCU, recording four saves over the first 30 minutes.

VCU however would crack the scoreboard in the 36th minute, as a pass ahead deflected hard off a Fordham defender right to Courtney Conrad for a breakaway. Conrad then tucked in a shot inside the left post for her sixth goal of the season and a 1-0 lead.

Conrad struck again just two minutes later, and she deflected in a cross from Maren Johansen for her second goal of the game.

VCU looked to add more in the second half, as Conrad looked for the hat trick in the 54th minute, but Suther made a diving stop on a 1-on-1 chance to keep it a two-goal game.

VCU would get that third goal in the 59th minute as a corner kick by Cristin Granados was knocked in by Wendy Acosta.

Granados was then rewarded later as she netted two more goals for VCU, while Ashley Grant also netted a marker for a 6-0 win.

The Fordham women's soccer team will remain in Richmond for its second Atlantic 10 game of the weekend on Sunday, October 7th, when the Rams play the Richmond Spiders at noon.
