Ambler, Pa. - Needing a win on Friday afternoon to keep its playoff hopes alive, the Fordham women's soccer team looked to one of its leaders at the most critical point of the season. Senior co-captain Annie Worden didn't disappoint her teammates, scoring twice in the second half to lead Fordham to a 3-0 win over the Temple Owls at the Ambler Sports Complex.

With the win, Fordham improved to 8-10 on the season, 4-4 in the Atlantic 10, while Temple fell to 5-12-2 on the year, 2-6 in the conference. The win puts Fordham in control of its own destiny, as if the Rams defeat Saint Joseph's on Sunday, Fordham will clinch a berth in the Atlantic 10 Championship next weekend. The loss eliminated Temple from playoff contention.

After a scoreless first half, Fordham cracked the scoreboard 1:47 into the second half. Kristina Maksuti slid a pass to Annie Worden, who then blasted a shot home from the top of the box for her third goal of the season.

The score remained that way until the 70th minute when Worden struck again. This time, Worden headed in a rebound off a Kate McDonnell shot for a 2-0 lead. For Worden, it was her second multi-goal game of the season and the fourth of her career.

McDonnell then iced the game for Fordham in the 74th minute, as she headed in a rebound off an Ivana Lahcanski shot for her second goal of the season.

The Fordham defense led by goalkeeper Ally White kept the sheet clean for the rest of the contest, as White finished with four saves for her second shutout of the season.

The Fordham women's soccer team will wrap up the regular season at Saint Joseph's on Sunday, October 28th at 1:00 PM.
