Bronx, N.Y. - After two walk-off wins the past two days, Fordham would not need the late inning heroics on Sunday, as Rams' pitcher Max Krakowiak threw a complete game, seven-hitter, while Joe Russo drove in two runs, as Fordham finished off a three-game sweep of the George Washington Colonials by a score of 4-1 at Houlihan Park.

With the win, Fordham improves to 22-13 overall, 6-3 in the Atlantic 10, while the Colonials fall to 10-25 on the season, 3-6 in the league. It was Fordham's first three-game sweep of an Atlantic 10 opponent since a three-game sweep of the Temple Owls in May 2009, and extended the team's current win streak to five games.

Fordham got on the board first in the first inning, as Ryan Lee reached on an infield single, followed by a walk to Chris Walker. After a double steal by Lee and Walker, Ryan David plated Lee with a sacrifice fly to center for the 1-0 lead.

The Rams made it 2-0 in the fifth on an RBI-double by Nick Martinez, scoring Ryan Maghini from second. Maghini had reached base on an infield single to extend his hit streak to 10 games and moved to second on a wild pitch.

Joe Russo had a two-run double in sixth to seal a 4-1 win.

The Colonials cut the lead in half in the top of the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Brooks Townsend, but Fordham came right back with two runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-1 lead. With two outs and runners at first and second, Joe Russo blooped a double down the right field line, scoring Brian Kownacki and Tim Swatek for a three-run lead.

That lead was plenty for Fordham pitcher Max Krakowiak, who scattered seven hits and tied a season-high with eight strikeouts to even his record at 4-4. This was also his second complete game of the season, and fifth of his career.

At the plate, Russo finished 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI with Martinez going 1-for-4 with an RBI-double. Walker had his 15-game hit streak snapped, as he was 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base.

The Fordham baseball team will next be in action on Tuesday, April 19th, when the Rams host the Iona College Gaels at Houlihan Park, beginning at 7:00 PM.
