Bronx, N.Y. - The only unusual thing about the softball doubleheader in the Bronx on Saturday, March 26, was the home and away team classifications. Despite winning a pair of games, 5-2 and 13-0, on their home turf, it was the Rams who were the visitors for both games. The doubleheader was originally scheduled for Olean, but due to bad weather, was moved to the Bronx.

Game one began with neither team scoring until the third. In the bottom of the first, the Bonnies threatened. Fordham starter Chelsea Plimpton gave up a one-out triple to Ashley Snider. Plimpton struck out the next two batters to escape any trouble.

The Rams jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third. Jessica Richards led off with a single to left. Lindsey Kay Bright followed with an infield hit. After Jocelyn Dearborn lined out to left, Nicole Callahan grounded out, but Richards and Bright scored on a throwing error by the shortstop.

The Bonnies tied the game in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs, Christine Watson doubled to left-center. The next batter, Maureen Wells, hit a home run to left and the scored was knotted at 2-2.

From there, Fordham pushed a run across in the fifth, sixth and seventh, to earn the 5-2 win. Dearborn ripped a one-out triple off the right-field wall in the fifth. Callahan drove her in with a single to center. In the sixth and seventh, Gabby Luety and Callahan each hit solo shots.

Callahan led the Rams with two hits and two RBI. Plimpton threw four innings to pick up her ninth win of the season. Jen Mineau threw three perfect innings of relief to record her fourth save of the season. Mineau struck out all nine batters she faced.

Game Two:

Game two saw Mineau continue her hot pitching in the circle as she threw a one-hit shutout. The Bonnies only hit was a single through the hole to left by Snider in the fourth. The Rams clobbered 16 hits en route to their 13 run barrage.

Fordham scored five unearned runs in the first inning off of four St. Bonaventure errors. Samantha Pellechio drove in the first run with a single that scored Callahan, who reached on an error. LaBovick brought in run number two with an RBI hit that scored Pellechio. Beckah Wiggins' infield single plated Luety for the third run. LaBovick later stole home on the backend of a double steal and the Rams' fifth run came when Bright reached on an error and Chelsea Palumbo scored.

The Rams made it 7-0 in the second, when Callahan doubled and Pellechio homered. In the third, three singles led to a sacrifice fly from Luety that scored Dearborn to make it 8-0.

In the fifth Dearborn hit a two-run homer to make it 10-0. The final three Fordham runs came when LaBovick drove in her second run of the game and Callahan plated two with an RBI base hit.

Pellechio finished 4-4 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Callahan was 3-4. Mineau improved to 8-5 with the shutout. In her five innings of work, she struck out 10 and didn't walk anyone. She faced just one batter above the minimum.

The Rams are now 18-13 on the season, with a 3-1 conference mark. St. Bonaventure is 3-10 and 0-4 overall. Fordham returns to action on Wednesday, March 30, when they face Lehigh in a home doubleheader at 3:00 P.M.
