Charleston Southern Pulls Out Second Win Over Fordham, 11-2

Charleston, S.C. - Charleston Southern's Jaren Sustar was 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Patrick Dolan allowed just three hits over six innings, as the Buccaneers posted their second straight win over the Fordham Rams by an 11-2 score at CSU Ballpark in Charleston, South Carolina.

With the loss, Fordham falls to 9-4 overall, while Charleston Southern improves to 9-5.

Fordham opened the scoring in the third inning, as Ryan Maghini singled to left with one away, and moved to second on a wild pitch. After a walk to Nick Martinez, Brian Kownacki reached on an error with Maghini scoring on the play.

The Buccaneers struck right back with an RBI-single by Derek Smith in the third, while getting a pair of runs in the fourth to lead by a 3-1 score.

The Rams pulled back within one in the top of the fifth on an error, a hit and two walks. Tim Swatek reached on an error with one out and moved to second on a single by Maghini. Ryan Phelan drew a walk to load the bases, which was followed by another walk to Martinez, forcing in Swatek.

Charleston Southern rallied right back in the bottom of the frame with six runs on six hits, highlighted by a two-run home run by Zach Hagaman, to grab a 9-2 lead.

The Buccaneers picked up two more runs in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI-double by Drew Woodall and a single by Sustar to close out the scoring.

For Fordham, Max Krakowiak (2-1) took the loss, allowing five earned runs on eight hits in 4.2 innings. Brian Thompson came on in relief of Krakowiak, giving up two runs on two hits in a third of an inning, while Dan Sorine (2 IP, 1 H, 2 K) and John Porter (1 IP, 1H, 1 K) also pitched out of the bullpen.

At the plate, Fordham managed only three hits in the game, two of which were by Maghini, with Stephen McSherry having the other hit. Martinez did walk three times in the game and had an RBI.

Charleston Southern's Patrick Dolan (1-1) recorded the win, allowing two runs on three hits and five walks with six strikeouts.

Game three of this series will take place on Sunday, beginning at 2:00 PM.
