Bronx, N.Y. - Another busy Saturday in Fordham sports action included a home swim meet at the Messmore Aquatic Center, where the Fordham swimming & diving teams split their dual meet with the University of Massachusetts. In addition to the split, Fordham had one school record broken in the women's 1000 yard freestyle event.

In the women's competition, Fordham posted a 183-111 win over the Minutewomen, while Massachusetts won the men's competition, 171-127.

The highlight of the afternoon came early in the women's 1000 freestyle event, as Fordham senior Megan McGorry broke her own school record in the event, winning in a time of 10:13.17. The time bested her mark of 10:13.42 from last year's Atlantic 10 Championship. McGorry added another event win in the 500 freestyle, posting a season-best time of 5:02.99, while also adding a fourth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke, recording Fordham's best time of the season in 1:10.54.

The two wins by McGorry were among 20 on the day for Fordham, three of which came from Courtney Collyer, as she won the 200 butterfly (2:07.94), 200 breaststroke (2:25.07), and 200 individual medley (2:09.00). She also helped the 200 medley relay team to win, joining Brienne Ryan, Kelly Bunster and Kellie Lyver to post a time of 1:46.35.

In addition to the relay, Ryan, Bunster, and Lyver captured event wins later in the meet. Ryan won the 100 backstroke (55.03) and the 100 freestyle (52.12) with Bunster capturing the 100 butterfly (58.14) and Lyver winning the 50 freestyle (24.79). All three then joined Alexandra Wessel to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:38.30.

Other women's winners were Wessel in the 200 freestyle (1:55.40) and Christina Cosentino won the 200 backstroke in 2:08.34, while Elizabeth Dorger captured both the one-meter (243.68) and three-meter (250.13) diving events.

In the men's competition, Shintaro Noguchi was a part of three of the men's five event wins. Noguchi took home the 200 freestyle in a season-best time of 1:42.85 and later captured the 100 butterfly in 51.30 seconds. Noguchi also joined Devon Morris, Danny Thrall, and Billy Colton to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:25.31.

Noguchi was also a part of the Rams' 200 medley relay with Colton, Matthew Grabiak and Morris, which was just touched out for a win in a season-best time of 1:34.84.

Grabiak and Colton would also win events later in the meet. Colton took home the 100 backstroke in 52.61 seconds, while Grabiak won the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.24.

The Fordham swimming & diving teams will next be in action on Wednesday, February 9th, when the Rams host the St. Francis College Terriers for Senior Day, beginning at 6:00 PM at the Messmore Aquatic Center.
