On an emotionally charged senior day at Dayton Arena, Fordham closed out its regular-season schedule on Saturday, February 26 with a 69-51 loss to Dayton. The Rams end the year with a 12-18 record, 4-10 in Atlantic 10 play. Tiffany Stokes led Fordham with 14 points.
The Flyers jumped out to the early lead, but Fordham evened the score at 4-4 when Kristina Bell scored at 16:43. After Dayton took a 6-4 lead shortly thereafter, the Rams took the lead on a three-pointer from Abigail Corning to make it 7-6 Fordham at 16:04. Dayton regained the lead and led 12-7 at 13:02. But the deficit grew for the Rams from there.
Fordham had a scoring drought from 12:30-8:11, a span of 4:19 until Tiffany Stokes made a pair of foul shots to bring the Rams within 21-12. Dayton pushed the lead to 23 points to take a 38-15 halftime lead.
The second half began with strong defensive pressure from Fordham as the Rams scored the first eight points of the half on a layup from Caitlin Shadbolt, a three-pointer from Becky Peters and three free throws from Kyara Weekes to make the score 38-23, at 18:45. Dayton answered with a 10-0 run of their own, keyed by six straight points from Justine Raterman.
The Rams continued to use their defense to create offense, forcing several Flyer turnovers which helped Fordham get as close as 11, 54-43, at 6:03 on a Kristina Bell layup. Eventually the Flyers pulled away for a 69-51 win.
Stokes led Fordham with 14 points. Fellow senior, Kyara Weekes also chipped in with 10. Abigail Corning came off the bench and scored 11 points. She also had eight rebounds.
The Rams closed out the season with the most wins during Coach Andruzzi's tenure. Fordham has clinched a spot in the upcoming A-10 Championship beginning on March 4 at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts.
