Final Stats

Bronx, N.Y. - On Saturday, February 19, Fordham faced the St. Bonaventure Bonnies as part of the Pink Zone initiative this week in women's college basketball. While the Rams started out thinking pink, their mood went to blue as they lost to the Bonnies 62-52 in an Atlantic 10 game at the Rose Hill Gymnasium in the Bronx.

Fordham started out slowly, missing its first seven field goal attempts until a three-pointer from Kyara Weekes at 15:17 made the score 8-3 for the Bonnies. Despite the Weekes' basket, St. Bonaventure opened the game with a 14-3 run over the first 5:34, forcing the Rams to call a timeout at 14:26.

After the brief respite, Abigail Corning found Tiffany Stokes down low who scored a traditional three-point-play to make the score 14-6 at 13:20. The Bonnies countered with a three of their own, and then Corning buried another trifecta from the corner to make the score 17-9 at 9:38. The Rams got within seven, 19-12, when Caitlin Shadbolt hit a three-pointer at 8:22.

About a minute and a half later, Stokes would score inside and make a foul shot to bring Fordham within nine, 24-15, at the 6:52 mark. Fordham closed out the half as Weekes drove and passed to Arielle Collins who beat the buzzer for a three-pointer. St. Bonaventure led 36-22 at the half.

Fordham turned up the defensive pressure early in the second half as they forced a shot clock violation on the Bonnies' first possession. At the 15:00 mark, with the Bonnies up 42-27, Shadbolt contested a shot on the defensive end and finished with a jumper on the offensive side to make the score 42-29.

Ariel Dale scored on a put-back of her own miss at 13:29 to bring the Rams within 12, 43-31. Fordham pulled within eight, 44-36 when Weekes beat the shot clock with a desperation three at 10:39. After a steal by Becky Peters, Dale took the ball in for a layup which made the score 49-40 at 9:10.

From there, the Bonnies answered immediately with a three from Chelsea Bowker. Later in the half, Stokes buried a jumper to bring Fordham within eight, 56-48, at 4:01. In that possession, Dale had two offensive rebounds.

The Rams got as close as six, 58-52 on a driving layup from Corning, but Fordham could get no closer. St. Bonaventure iced the win when Jessica Jenkins made two foul shots with 1:06 left.
