Squash Team Earns First Two Victories of the Season on Sunday

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - The Fordham squash team posted its first two wins of the season on Sunday, defeating Vassar College, 6-3, and Bard College, 7-2, at Vassar's Kenyon Hall in Poughkeepsie, New York. The wins put Fordham's record at 2-4 on the season.

The Rams began the day with a 6-3 victory over Vassar, led by Andrew Grosner, who posted a four-set win over William English at the third slot. Eli Plangger, playing in his first match of the season, quickly brushed off any rust he had, defeating Andrew Lindsay in four sets in the #4 slot.

Raymond Chen (#5) posted a three-set sweep for Fordham, while Alex Williams (#7) won his match in four sets. Ethan Brooks (#8) clinched the win for the Rams' earning his first victory of the season in a five-set dual with Shail Bajpai. Quetzalli Torres was credited with a default win at the #9 slot for the final 6-3 margin of victory.

In match two, the Rams had another solid effort, as Grosner, Plangger, Chen, Williams, Brooks and Torres each picked up their second win of the afternoon. Joining them in the winner's column was Chris Souther, who defeated Bard's Aiko Roudette in a hard fought five-set victory at the #6 slot.

The Fordham squash team will next be in action December 2-4 at the Wesleyan Round Robin Tournament in Middletown, Connecticut.
