Water Polo Wraps Up Play at the Claremont Convergence Tournament

Claremont, Calif. - The Fordham water polo team wrapped up its west coast road trip on Saturday with a pair of losses at the Claremont Convergence Tournament in Claremont, California. The Rams fell to Cal Lutheran by a 9-7 score, while 10th-ranked Concordia (Calif.) took down Fordham, 18-9.

With the losses, Fordham falls to 6-14 on the year.

In match one, Fordham was down just one, 8-7, with seconds remaining before Cal Lutheran netted an empty net goal for a 9-7 win.

For Fordham, Ben Clinkinbeard and Eric Minowitz led the attack with two goals each, while Andrew McKernin, Daniel Barron, and Robert Fleming rounded out the Rams' scoring. In net, Noah LeBeau made eight saves.

In game two, the Rams could not muster a consistent attack against 10th ranked Concordia (Calif.), as the Eagles doubled up the Rams, 18-9.

McKernin, Nicholas Allen and Fleming each had a pair of goals in the contest, while Josh Itano, J.D. Shrewsbury, and Barron each netted a marker. LeBeau matched his earlier performance with eight saves in goal.

The Fordham water polo team will next be in action on Wednesday, October 12th, when the Rams host nationally-ranked St. Francis (NY) College at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center, beginning at 7:30 PM. It will be Senior Night, as the senior class will be honored prior to the match.
