Charlotte, N.C. - Netting 22 shots towards goal for the second straight game, the Fordham women's soccer team was again snake bitten on Sunday, as the Rams were held without a goal and dropped a 1-0 decision to the Charlotte 49ers at Transamerica Field in Charlotte, N.C.

With the loss, Fordham drops to 8-8-2 on the year, 3-4-1 in the Atlantic 10, while Charlotte, improved to 6-8-4 overall, 3-3-1 in the league.

Fordham had a 12-5 shot edge in the opening half but Charlotte keeper Natalie LaVigne recorded five first half stops to keep the game scoreless.

The Rams kept the pressure on early in the second half, as Kelsey Dougherty Howard hit the post in the 51st minute with the ball being cleared away.

That post shot would come back to haunt the Rams, as Charlotte scored the only goal of the game, just four minutes later. Macky Wingo netted her sixth goal of the season, off a quick touch from Amanda Jones, beating Fordham keeper Rachel Suther to the left post.

Fordham recorded eight shots following the goal to try and get the equalizer, but came up empty with only Mariella Romano's shot with under two minutes to play being on goal.

The Fordham women's soccer team will wrap up Atlantic 10 play next Friday, when the Rams host the La Salle Explorers as the back end of a soccer doubleheader. Approximate game time start is 7:30 PM with Senior Night ceremonies prior to the game.
