Volleyball Win Streak Ends at Four With Loss To Maryland

College Park, Md. - Looking for its fifth straight win, the Fordham volleyball team traveled down to College Park, Maryland for two days of play at the Maryland Invite. On day one, the host Maryland Terrapins snapped the Rams' four-match win streak with a 3-0 win on Friday night. Final set scores were 25-18, 25-23, and 25-19.

With the loss, Fordham moves to 4-1, while Maryland improved to 3-1.

The match begin with set one tied at nine, before Maryland five of the next six points to take a 14-10 lead. Fordham closed back within two at 19-17 on a kill by Brittany Daulton, who finished the set with six kills. Maryland however allowed just one Fordham point the rest of the set, winning it, 25-18

Set two saw the Terrapins have a 22-17 lead with Fordham pulling back within one at 23-22, highlighted by a kill and a block by Christi Griffiths. Maryland though would earn set point on a kill by Maddi Lee and then win the set, 25-23 on a kill by Lisa Scott.

Maryland was in control for most of set three, leading by as many as ten points, en route to a 25-19 set win.

For Fordham, Daulton finished with a team-high nine kills to go with eight digs, while Kailee May had eight kills and seven digs. Katie Wells also added seven kills and three blocks.

The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Saturday, September 4th, when the Rams conclude play at the Maryland Invite with a 10:30 AM match-up with Georgetown and a 4:30 PM match against Bradley.
