Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham's Kaitlyn Carballeira (East Setauket, N.Y.) scored her first collegiate goal in the eighth minute, and the Rams' defense held the Army Black Knights in check for a 1-0 win at Jack Coffey Field, snapping a six-game slide. It was also the first win in eight all-time meetings by Fordham against Army.

With the win, Fordham improved to 4-6-0 this season, while Army fell to 8-3.

Fordham netted the only goal of the contest on its first shot in the eighth minute. Off a corner kick, Fordham's Colleen Brady (Leawood, Kans.) launched a cross into the six-yard box, which Carballeira knocked into the net for her first collegiate goal.

The Fordham defense made that goal hold up, as the team did not allow a shot by Army until the 72:05 mark, as the Black Knights managed just five shots in the game.

For Fordham, Rachel Suther (Naperville, Ill.) made two saves in the shutout, recording her fourth win of the season, while Army's Alex Lostetter had four saves in the loss.

The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Friday, October 1st, when the Rams open Atlantic 10 play at the University of Dayton, beginning at 7:30 PM.
