Sept. 25, 2010

Final Stats

Bronx, N.Y. - After being honored before the match for her 1,000th kill, Fordham's Kailee May added 15 more kills to her career total, as she led the Rams to a sweep of the Temple Owls on Saturday night at the Rose Hill Gymnasium. Final set scores were 25-21, 25-17, and 25-23.

The win improved Fordham's record to 10-8 on the season, 2-0 in the Atlantic 10, while Temple fell to 2-13 overall, 0-2 in the league.

After coming so close to wins in years past against Temple, Fordham kept the pressure on Temple all night long, as a good passing game led to easy offense for the Rams. The Rams had three players, May, Mary Diamantidis, and Maria Rodenberg, all finish with 12 digs, while Brittany Daulton just missed being in double-figures with nine.

With good passing, Temple tried to pick its spots in the service game, but that turned into more points for Fordham, as the Owls had ten service errors, while Fordham made only four in the match.

For Fordham, May had a double-double with 15 kills and 12 digs with Diamantidis dishing out 31 assists to go with 12 digs. Jenna Hart added seven kills with Christi Griffiths having four kills and five blocks.

The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Friday, October 1st, when the Rams play at Xavier, beginning at 7:00 PM.

Game Notes: Fordham is 2-0 in league play for the first time since 2007... The Rams improved to 4-29 all-time against Temple... Tonight was Kailee May's fifth double-double of the season, and marked the sixth straight match with double-digit kills.
